During the first years of his career (late 60s, early 70s) his art is characterized by staying in the border between figurativeness and abstraction. He freely uses color and constantly experiments while trying to find his language.
During the 80s and early 90s his compositions follow a geometric style, steadily approaching to barroque spaces where objects and memories struggle for room on the canvas.
During his last years, Eugenio Estrada tends toward simplification, toward essenciality, in a depurative process which brings him to show bare objects and landscapes evoking the memories and presence of those who owned them or lived in them.
